BISTRO With a distinctive Old Galway shop-front façade, this building is two eateries in one: a ground-level self-service coffeeshop and a full-service bistro upstairs. The restaurant menu lists a variety of dishes, priced to suit every budget, from steaks and seafood dishes to chicken kiev or cordon bleu, as well as quiches, omelettes, salads, and stir-fried vegetable platters. Baked goods, particularly and homemade brown bread, are an added attraction. The coffeeshop serves memorably good breakfast and light lunches.

This place is two eateries in one: The ground-level coffee shop is cheap and cheerful, with steaming fresh coffee and melt-in-your-mouth pastries, while upstairs is a bistro offering quiches, omelettes, salads and stir-fried veggies. The coffee shop gets packed at peak breakfast and lunch times.

IRISH RUGBY TOURS LIMITED
Miki Travel, Japanese travel agency based in Dublin, always uses GBC restaurant for Lunch/Dinner in Galway for Japanese groups.
Their waitresses are very friendly, atmosphere is very nice, and of course their food is excellent. Our clients are very happy and enjoy their food with GBC restaurant. Restaurant location is very good, near Galway rail station and shopping centre. We strongly recommend having nice food there in Galway.
Miki Travel (Dublin) Ltd
The GBC has proved to be a popular destination for tourists looking for a for good lunch stop. The location just off the landmark Eyre Square area makes it easy for tour guides and drivers to point out the restaurant on route and makes it easy for tourists to find their way back to the coach parking areas which are a short walking distance of the restaurant. The great thing about the restaurant is the quality and variation of the menu on offer matched with efficient and friendly service. With most tours having limited time to stop on day trips, people seek efficient and friendly service and with the option of cafeteria style or table service the GBC ticks all the boxes catering for both large and small groups. I am always happy to recommend the GBC to people visiting galway.
CRONIN COACKES (CORK)
We’ve used GBC Restaurant for all of our Galway meal requirements for our group tours and have been extremely happy with the food, service, quality and price. Anne in GBC is always very efficient in getting back to us when making all of our bookings and we would have no hesitation in recommending them for any of your group meal requirements.

“Magnificent!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

Always dine here as the food is superb & the staff very professional. Came at 4.15 pm & ordered off the Dinner Special. My daughter had garlic mushrooms & I had egg mayonnaise to start. Ploughman's portions of wonderful, fresh food. Steak for mains: done to perfection, one rare, one medium. Served with mushrooms, saute onions, chips, carrots & peas. Huge platefuls of mouth-watering fare!!! Lemon cheesecake to die for & lovely light apple crumble. REAL tea, no tea-bags here. Smiling waitress. Nothing too much trouble, tho she was on her own for almost the entire time we were there. Dealt very well with screaming, spoiled, horrid child, who should have been......at home!!! He kept shouting & demanding all sorts. Parents NEVER checked him.....probably don't at home either by the look of things. Lovely room too. Top marks GBC!!!

whoseview.ie: User Reviews and Recommendations about Top Restaurants, Bars, Shopping, Health, Beauty, Food and More at Whoseview.com An absolute must when you visit Galway (03 September 2010) by: Margaret ***** 5 out of 5 This is an absolute must to visit when you are in Galway. When you see a cafe or restaurant full of locals you know it is the best possible place you can go to eat and it is always full of locals and tourists alike here and it never fails to tempt the taste buds. Prices are very reasonable too and service is excellent. What more could you ask for in the heart of a city like Galway. Margaret would recommend. Margaret would use again
